Marcel·lí Bayer, bariton sax, bass clarinet
Josep-Maria Balanyà, piano, chanting

Josep-Maria Balanyà has a long experience in improvised music. Over the years and through different experimental projects he has developed a very rich, powerful, but very subtle and original way of playing the piano. At his side, Marcel-lí Bayer explores with vitality and wisdom the saxophones and the bass clarinet, with classical and advanced techniques.

Marcel-lí and Josep-Maria met in Barcelona, their hometown, and have played together in various ensembles and as a duo. In this project, Marcel-lí Bayer and Josep-Maria Balanyà perform an open sound concept in which they bring into interaction different sound elements, some previously prepared, while others appear spontaneously in a new improvisation.

The two musical worlds of Balanyà and Bayer come together in an atmosphere of tension and strong energy of life.
They have recorded the CD escletXa together on the Hazard Records label.

Mardelí Bayer has participated in some thirty recordings as a sideman and has released five as a leader: "Nonitz featuring Lee Konitz" (Quadrant Records, 2011); Las Narrations (Whatabout Music 2013); "1680" (Discordian Records, 2014); "Niketchrin" (Creative Sources, 2017) and "Two Horses" (Underpool, 2019).
